Advanced Manufacturing and Packaging Fundamentals - Career Studies Certificate

Purpose

The Career Studies Certificate Program is a response to the nontraditional, short-term program education needs of many adults. Many of the courses are offered during evening hours so that it is possible for an individual to earn a certificate while remaining employed. Career Studies Certificates require between nine and 29 semester credit hours. While some Career Studies Certificates are related to Certificate or Associate of Applied Science degree programs, others are self-contained.

The DSLCC Continuing and Workforce Services Division provides Career Studies Certificates which are not related to associate degree programs. These programs are designed to provide students with specific work-related skills. The College works with local employers to design programs which will lead to employment in local businesses and industries.

Admissions Information

Admission to the program is based upon the general requirements for admission to the College. Students whose placement test scores indicate the need to increase their level of proficiency in reading, writing and/or mathematics will be required to take appropriate developmental courses. Enrolling in developmental courses may increase the length of time necessary for completing the chosen course(s) or program or study, but will enhance the student's preparation for college-level coursework and increase the chances for successful attainment of academic, occupational and personal goals.

Overview

The Career Studies Certificate in Advanced Manufacturing and Packaging Fundamentals includes nine courses on topics that include technical skills, computer applications, technical mathematics and an introduction of principle concepts of technology in the manufacturing environment.

Program Requirements

The program requires completion of selected specialized courses. All electives must be approved prior to enrollment. All electives must be approved prior to enrollment. A Career Studies Certificate is awarded upon completion of the program with an overall GPA of 2.0 and may be earned in more than one option.

*Note: IND 165 and IND 166 may be substituted for ETR 113 and MEC 161.
